Since 2001, MSA has continuously provided environmental, surveying, and engineering services for many facilities operated by Kuzzen’s, including tomato farms, labor housing, greenhouses, and vegetable packing operations in both Virginia and Maryland. MSA has secured more than 20 Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Groundwater Withdrawal Permits for Kuzzen’s, managing the entire process from Pre-Application Meetings, to application preparation, well installation management and aquifer testing, Agency application comment responses, draft permit issuance consulting, and finally permit compliance services for the duration of the 10 to 15-year permit terms. MSA operates more than 10 State regulated drinking water systems for Kuzzen’s, providing a licensed Waterworks Operator, permitting, sampling, and reporting as required by the Virginia Department of Health – Office of Drinking Water (VDH-ODW). MSA has also provided stormwater management design and permitting, Agriculture Stewardship Plan preparation, cost-benefit analyses related to proposed irrigation pond expansions, LIDAR mapping for field drainage management, Virginia Pollution Abatement (VPA) Permitting and Compliance, Virginia Pollution Discharge Elimination System (VPDES) Compliance, Joint Permit Applications (JPA) for irrigation Surface Water Withdrawals, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Compliance (SPCC), Backflow Prevention Device testing, and monitoring well installation.
