MSA provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services for Hampton Roads’ first affordable housing community for disabled and homeless military veterans. The project consisted of a 32-unit apartment complex and associated parking. In addition to residential space, the building also contains office space, a community lounge for residents, and a fitness center.
Because this project was for disabled and homeless American veterans, MSA proudly provided these services without charge.
Landscape Architecture services included producing a site layout plan for proposed plantings, including interior shade trees, interior green space, and street front landscaping.
The project site presented several engineering challenges, including conflicts with existing utilities. Design of an underground stormwater management system was necessary due to the limited space available for a typical above-ground stormwater management facility. It also required design of a retaining wall due to grade change. Despite these challenges, MSA completed all work on schedule.
