MSA provided Civil Engineering services to the Designer of Record (DOR) to produce construction documents and specifications for cemetery expansion and improvements at Quantico National Cemetery. The project included 5 sites: an administration building renovation, a new 3,000 unit preplaced crypt field, a new 550 unit standard burial field, a new Ossuary, and a new Columbarium.
This project meets Low Impact Development (LID) and Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) 438 requirements for stormwater management and complies with current Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) stormwater and Erosion & Sediment Control (ESC) regulations. The Construction General Permit was required and obtained through DEQ. Coordination with the National Cemetery Administration (NCA) through the USACE Norfolk District aided the design team to produce the contract documents utilizing NCA details and design criteria. Specifications were prepared in SPECSINTACT and coordinated with other disciplines and the DOR.
Landscape Architecture services were also provided to the DOR and included site furnishings such as watering stations, benches, plantings, and coordination with the irrigation designer.
