Bob Miller

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we relay news about the passing of our beloved founder and President Emeritus, Robert “Bob” Miller, III, PE. Bob passed away on December 3 rd after an extended battle against cancer. His family is gathering for a private memorial service in the near future; however, they have requested privacy and do not wish to accept visitors at this time. We anticipate that MSA will organize a celebration of Bob’s very full and joyful life in 2021. Details will be posted here as well as MSA’s social media sites and with other organizations in which Bob was active.

Bob’s obituary is not yet available, but we have provided a link below where it can be accessed in the near future. He was a tremendously giving person and a very active corporate citizen who was born and lived his life in Hampton Roads. Bob’s legacy runs deep and cuts a broad swath through our community. It is proving to be difficult to honor his many achievements and charitable and professional endeavors in a few paragraphs. If there are individuals or organizations, which are not recognized in the obituary, the family and MSA sincerely apologize and ask for forgiveness. There are many who loved Bob, and we know there are hundreds who are grieving.

If you would like to express condolences, there are several ways you can do so:

  • To reach his family directly, send an email to rsmiiimemorial@gmail.com (the Millers have asked for photos, memories and stories about Bob to be shared via this email account)
  • When the obituary is published, it can be accessed here https://www.hdoliver.com/obituary and there will be a guestbook available
  • Cards and letters for the family may be mailed here:

  • For those who wish to make a memorial donation, the organization that was most dear to Bob’s heart is Virginia Beach Special Olympics. There is no website for Virginia Beach Special Olympics. To assure that funds are used locally, checks marked “in memory of Robert Miller III” should be payable to Virginia Beach Special Olympics and mailed to MSA at this address:

    C/O MSA, P.C.
    5032 Rouse Drive, Suite 200
    Virginia Beach, VA 23462-3764-3764

  • If you wish to make an online memorial donation to Special Olympics of Virginia, please visit this site https://give.specialolympics.org/page/contribute/virginia19 (be aware that donations made here are distributed throughout the State of Virginia, with only a portion going to the Virginia Beach community)

Bob’s legacy to us at MSA was his mentorship, business ethics and volunteerism. He taught us to value all knowledge, to be steadfastly dedicated to success, to voluntarily serve others in any capacity, and to show respect in all walks of life. We will continue to honor Bob’s memory by putting these values into practice every day.

We pray the Miller family will be comforted and find lasting peace in the knowledge that Bob lives on through the hearts he touched and the profound impressions he made on those who were privileged to know him.
